Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 tablespoons (30g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) orange liqueur (e.g., Grand Marnier)
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons (30g) powdered sugar
- 4 slices of thick bread (e.g., brioche or challah)
- 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, melted
Instructions:
- In a medium bowl, combine sliced strawberries and granulated sugar.
- Add vanilla extract and orange liqueur; toss to coat.
- Let the mixture sit for at least 30 minutes to macerate.
- In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream and powdered sugar.
- Whisk until soft peaks form.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) or heat a skillet over medium heat.
- Brush each side of the bread slices with melted butter.
- Toast in the oven or skillet until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Place the toasted bread on serving plates.
- Spoon the macerated strawberries over the toast.
- Top with whipped cream sauce.
