Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons (30g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) orange liqueur (e.g., Grand Marnier)
  • 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons (30g) powdered sugar
  • 4 slices of thick bread (e.g., brioche or challah)
  • 2 tablespoons (28g) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine sliced strawberries and granulated sugar.
  2. Add vanilla extract and orange liqueur; toss to coat.
  3. Let the mixture sit for at least 30 minutes to macerate.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream and powdered sugar.
  5. Whisk until soft peaks form.
  6. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) or heat a skillet over medium heat.
  7. Brush each side of the bread slices with melted butter.
  8. Toast in the oven or skillet until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  9. Place the toasted bread on serving plates.
  10. Spoon the macerated strawberries over the toast.
  11. Top with whipped cream sauce.
