Ingredients:

  • 4 cups (946 ml) Water
  • 2 inches (5 cm) Fresh Ginger Root, peeled and thinly sliced (about 2 ounces / 57 grams)
  • 1/2 Lemon, juiced (about 1-2 tablespoons)
  • 2 tablespoons Honey (or Maple Syrup/Agave for vegan option), or to taste
  • Optional: Pinch of ground turmeric, a few black peppercorns, a cinnamon stick

Instructions:

  1. Peel and thinly slice the ginger root.
  2. Bring the water to a boil in a saucepan (or kettle).
  3. Add the sliced ginger to the boiling water. Reduce heat to a simmer.
  4. Simmer for 10-15 minutes to allow the ginger flavor to infuse. (Add spices at this stage if using)
  5. Remove from heat and strain the tea into mugs, discarding the ginger slices.
  6. Stir in the lemon juice and honey (or desired sweetener) to taste.
  7. Serve warm and enjoy!
