Ingredients:

  • 4 cups (600g) cubed, seeded watermelon
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) water or coconut water
  • Juice of 1 lime (approximately 2 tablespoons, 30ml)
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) honey or maple syrup (optional, adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup (75g) ice cubes (optional, for a thicker smoothie)
  • 1/4 cup (30g) chopped mint or basil (optional)
  • 1/4 inch (0.5cm) piece of ginger (peeled, optional)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Chop the watermelon into cubes, removing any seeds.
  2. Place the watermelon, water (or coconut water), lime juice, and honey/maple syrup (if using) into the blender. Add any optional additions now.
  3. Blend on high speed until completely smooth and creamy.
  4. Add ice cubes and blend again until the desired consistency is reached (optional).
  5. Pour into glasses and serve immediately. Garnish with a sprig of mint or a lime wedge, if desired.
