- 8 oz (227 g) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup (120 g) powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) heavy cream (optional, for texture)
Instructions:
- Melt the unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Whisk continuously until the butter foams, then turns golden brown and smells nutty (about 5-7 minutes). Remove from heat.
- Pour the browned butter into a bowl and let cool to room temperature, about 10-15 minutes.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
- Gradually add in the powdered sugar, whisking until combined.
- Mix in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.
- Slowly drizzle the cooled brown butter into the cream cheese mixture, beating until smooth and creamy.
- If using, add the heavy cream to achieve a lighter texture.
- Transfer the whipped cream cheese to the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to set.
