Ingredients:
- 4 inches fresh ginger root, peeled and thinly sliced
- 4 cups water, filtered if possible
- 1-2 tablespoons honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar (optional)
- 1-2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (optional)
Instructions:
- Wash the ginger root thoroughly. Peel the ginger (optional, but recommended) and thinly slice.
- In a saucepan, combine the sliced ginger and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer gently for 10-15 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat. Strain the tea through a strainer or fine-mesh sieve into a heat-resistant pitcher or directly into mugs.
- Stir in honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar and lemon juice to taste (optional).
- Pour into mugs and enjoy hot!
