Ingredients:

  • 4 inches fresh ginger root, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 4 cups water, filtered if possible
  • 1-2 tablespoons honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar (optional)
  • 1-2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Wash the ginger root thoroughly. Peel the ginger (optional, but recommended) and thinly slice.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the sliced ginger and water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to low and simmer gently for 10-15 minutes.
  3. Remove the saucepan from the heat. Strain the tea through a strainer or fine-mesh sieve into a heat-resistant pitcher or directly into mugs.
  4. Stir in honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar and lemon juice to taste (optional).
  5. Pour into mugs and enjoy hot!
