Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces (115g) fresh ginger root, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 2 medium oranges, peeled and segmented
  • 2 medium lemons, peeled and segmented
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) water (more if needed)
  • 1-2 tablespoons raw honey, to taste (or maple syrup for vegan)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder (optional)
  • Pinch of black pepper (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Peel and chop the ginger. Peel and segment the oranges and lemons.
  2. Combine all ingredients (ginger, oranges, lemons, water, honey, and any optional boosts) in a high-powered blender. Blend until completely smooth.
  3. Place a fine-mesh sieve or nut milk bag over a bowl. Pour the blended mixture through the sieve/bag, pressing down with a spoon or spatula to extract all the liquid. Discard the pulp.
  4. Taste the strained ginger shot. Add more honey or water to adjust the sweetness or consistency to your liking.
  5. Pour the ginger shot into glass bottles or jars. Refrigerate for up to 5 days.
