Ingredients:

  • 4 ounces (113g) fresh ginger root, peeled and roughly chopped
  • 4 lemons, juiced (about 1 cup / 240ml juice)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) water
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional, for extra kick)

Instructions:

  1. Combine ginger, lemon juice, and water in a high-speed blender. Blend until completely smooth.
  2. Pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve (or cheesecloth-lined strainer) into a bowl or pitcher. Press down on the solids to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the pulp.
  3. If desired, stir in honey or maple syrup and cayenne pepper to taste.
  4. Transfer the shot mixture to airtight containers and chill for at least 30 minutes for the flavors to meld.
  5. Give it a good stir or shake before serving cold. Enjoy the zing!
