Ingredients:

  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 8 slices of thick-cut bread (such as brioche or challah)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (30 g), plus more for serving
  • Maple syrup or powdered sugar, for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  2. Dip each slice of bread into the mixture, allowing it to soak for about 30 seconds on each side until well coated but not soggy.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Allow to melt completely.
  4. Place soaked bread slices onto the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown, flipping carefully with a spatula.
  5. Remove the French toast from the skillet, add more butter if desired, and serve immediately with maple syrup or a dusting of powdered sugar.
