Ingredients:
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 8 slices of thick-cut bread (such as brioche or challah)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (30 g), plus more for serving
- Maple syrup or powdered sugar, for serving
Instructions:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
- Dip each slice of bread into the mixture, allowing it to soak for about 30 seconds on each side until well coated but not soggy.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add 2 tablespoons of butter. Allow to melt completely.
- Place soaked bread slices onto the skillet in a single layer. Cook for 3-4 minutes per side or until golden brown, flipping carefully with a spatula.
- Remove the French toast from the skillet, add more butter if desired, and serve immediately with maple syrup or a dusting of powdered sugar.
