Ingredients:
- 1 kg fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon orange liqueur (optional) or fresh orange juice
- 237 ml heavy cream, cold
- 118 ml Mexican crema, sour cream, or creme fraiche
- 118 ml sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions:
- Gently wash and hull the strawberries. Slice them to your desired thickness. Place the sliced strawberries in a large bowl.
- Sprinkle the strawberries with sugar and the orange liqueur (or juice, if using). Gently toss to combine. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- In a separate bowl, combine the heavy cream, Mexican crema (or sour cream), sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and salt.
- Using a whisk or electric mixer, whip the cream mixture until soft peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip.
- Divide the macerated strawberries among serving dishes or glasses. Spoon the whipped cream mixture over the strawberries.
- For best results, chill the assembled Fresas con Crema for at least 15 minutes before serving. Serve immediately if desired.
