Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450 grams) fresh green beans, trimmed
- 1 tablespoon (15 mL) olive oil
- 1 teaspoon (5 grams) sea salt
- 1 lemon, juiced (about 2 tablespoons or 30 mL)
- Freshly cracked black pepper (to taste)
Instructions:
- Trim ends off green beans and rinse under cold water.
- Fill a large pot with water (about 1 inch) and bring to a boil. Place a steamer basket or colander in the pot, ensuring it doesn’t touch the water.
- Add green beans to the steamer basket, cover with a lid. Steam for 5 minutes or until bright green and tender-crisp.
- Carefully remove beans with tongs or a slotted spoon. Toss in olive oil, sea salt, lemon juice, and pepper to taste.
- Serve immediately; consider garnishing with lemon zest for added flavor.
