Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (454g) fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.5g) salt, or to taste
  • 1/8 teaspoon (0.75g) black pepper, or to taste
  • Lemon wedges, for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Trim the green beans and rinse them thoroughly.
  2. Fill the pot with about 1 inch (2.5cm) of water. Place the steamer basket inside, ensuring the water doesn't touch the bottom of the basket.
  3. Bring the water to a boil. Add the green beans to the steamer basket. Cover the pot and steam for 5-7 minutes, or until the beans are bright green and crisp-tender.
  4. While the beans are steaming, whisk together the minced garlic, olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  5. Once steamed, immediately transfer the green beans to a serving bowl. Pour the garlic-lemon dressing over the beans and toss gently to coat.
  6. Garnish with lemon wedges, if desired, and serve immediately.
