Ingredients:
- 4 ears fresh sweetcorn, husks and silk removed
- Water, for steaming (about 2 cups)
- Optional: Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Optional: Unsalted butter, for serving
Instructions:
- Shuck the corn, removing the husks and silk completely. Rinse the corn under cold water.
- Pour about 2 cups of water into the large pot. Ensure the water level is below the bottom of the steamer basket.
- Insert the steamer basket into the pot, ensuring it sits above the water level.
- Place the corn cobs in the steamer basket in a single layer if possible. If you need to stack them slightly, that’s okay.
- Cover the pot with the lid. Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium and steam for 8-10 minutes, or until the kernels are tender and bright yellow.
- Carefully remove one cob with tongs. Test a kernel with a fork to check for doneness.
- Remove the corn from the pot using tongs. Serve hot with butter, salt, pepper, and your favourite toppings.
