Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter, softened
- 4 cloves Fresh Garlic, minced finely
- 2 tablespoons Fresh Parsley, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon Dried Oregano
- 1/4 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher Salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Freshly Ground Black Pepper
- 1 loaf Crusty Bread (Italian, French, or Sourdough)
- 1 cup Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
- 1/2 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
- 1/4 cup Parmesan Cheese, freshly grated
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Make the Compound Butter: In a small bowl, thoroughly combine the softened butter, minced garlic, parsley, oregano, red pepper flakes, salt, and pepper until fully incorporated.
- Prepare the Bread: Slice the loaf lengthwise down the middle, creating two long halves.
- Butter Generously: Spread the entire surface of the cut sides of the bread halves evenly and liberally with the garlic butter mixture.
- Mix the Cheeses: In a separate small bowl, toss together the mozzarella, cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses.
- Top the Bread: Distribute the cheese mixture evenly over the buttered surfaces of both bread halves.
- Bake (Initial): Place the bread halves cut-side up on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 8 minutes until the cheese begins to melt.
- Broil for Colour: Switch the oven to the 'Broil' setting (High). Carefully watch the bread and broil for 2–4 minutes until the cheese is bubbling beautifully and has achieved a rich golden-brown colour.
- Serve: Remove from the oven. Let cool for 2 minutes, then slice into individual portions across the width. Serve immediately.
