Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (50g) packed fresh basil leaves
  • 3 cloves (9g) garlic, peeled
  • 1/3 cup (45g) pine nuts
  • 3 tbsp (12g) nutritional yeast
  • 1/3 cup (80ml) extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp (1g) black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Place the pine nuts, garlic, and nutritional yeast into the food processor. Pulse 5–7 times until the mixture looks like coarse sand.
  2. Add the fresh basil leaves, lemon juice, salt, and pepper. Pulse in short 2-second bursts until the basil is finely chopped but not yet a puree.
  3. While the processor is running on low, slowly drizzle in the extra virgin olive oil in a steady stream. Continue processing only until the sauce reaches a creamy, unified consistency.
