Frequently asked questions

Can I swap an ingredient in a recipe?

Often, yes. Many recipes include substitution notes, and simple swaps such as one herb for another or one type of milk for another usually work. Swaps that change structure, such as flour, eggs or leavening in baking, can change the result, so change one thing at a time. Write to us if you are unsure about a specific swap.

How accurate are the nutrition estimates?

Nutrition figures are estimates based on typical ingredient values and the stated serving size. Brands, portion sizes and substitutions change the real numbers. If you follow a medical diet or manage a health condition, check the values against your own labels or ask a qualified professional.

How do I handle allergies and food safety?

Always read ingredient labels for allergens, since products vary by brand and region. Use a food thermometer to confirm that meat, poultry and fish are cooked through, and follow the storage times given in each recipe. Use your own judgement and adjust to your equipment and household.

My cooking time or temperature was different. What should I do?

Ovens, pans and stovetops vary, so treat times as a guide and go by the doneness cues in the recipe, such as color, texture or an internal temperature. If a recipe was far off, tell us the title, what you saw and your equipment. We will review it and update the recipe if needed.

How do I report an error in a recipe?

Use the contact form above and include the recipe title or link, what looks wrong, and what you think it should say. We check each report and correct the page when the problem is confirmed.

Can I share or reuse your recipes and photos?

You are welcome to link to any recipe and to cook it at home. Please do not republish full recipes, text or images elsewhere without written permission. If you want to feature a recipe, share a short excerpt with a link back to the original page. Our Terms of use explain the details.
